Hi, I’m Julia.

I transform your story into an independently published book.

What is independent publishing?

Independent publishing means you don’t go through a traditional publisher to make your book available to the public. It also means you decide how to price your work, where to distribute it, and in which format(s). On platforms like Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct

Publishing), Lulu, or Ingram Spark, your book can be made available as an e-book, paperback, or hardcover. Readers can buy it directly, and they print and ship copies as orders come in, so you don’t need to worry about inventory.

Independent Publishing, but…

ETHICAL

Your royalties are yours. Unlike most in the industry, I help you publish without taking a cut. Depending on the platform you choose (Amazon KDP, Lulu, IngramSpark, Barnes & Noble, and others) you retain between 60% and 100% of your chosen sales price.

You keep 100% of the rights to your book. Even if I ghostwrite parts of your book, nothing gets signed away. You are the author and you keep full ownership of your files and published content.

You remain in full creative control. You decide where and how your book is published, how it’s priced, and when (or if) to update it later.

Your message stays intact. Throughout the editing process, I’ll offer my professional input but never impose my preferences. You’ll always have the final say. Independent publishing means no agent or publisher will alter, trim, or sanitise your work.

INCLUSIVE

LGBTQI+ to the forefront. Though we make up a meaningful part of the population, LGBTQI+ voices remain significantly underrepresented in published literature. I’m passionate about working with LGBTQI+ authors to help bring greater diversity and authenticity to the world of books.

Neurodivergence is your author superpower. If you’ve been diagnosed with ADHD, autism, or any other form of neurodivergence, you might find it difficult to access the right support within traditional publishing—even though your unique perspective can lead to richer, more innovative stories. I’m here to take care of the boring, frustrating, or inaccessible parts of the publishing process.

Becoming an author despite being dyslexic. Dyslexia doesn’t have to be a barrier to becoming a successful author, despite what you may have been told. I’ve developed a ghostwriting and editing process that allows me to transform your audio input into a book that reads as though you’re speaking directly from its pages.

Trauma-informed storytelling. I respect your pace and boundaries, recognise the impact of past experiences, and prioritise your emotional well-being throughout the writing and publishing process.

The Process

1. Ghostwriting

I can help you write your book. Together, we’ll plan its structure, including chapters, character development, and narrative arc. Then, I’ll gather content through in-depth interviews with you, your voice recordings, and supplementary research to authentically capture your voice and vision.

2. Editing

The first draft of your manuscript undergoes three stages of editing, and a final proofread.

  • Developmental editing looks at the whole piece and asks questions like: Does the structure make sense and is it coherent? Can the reasoning be followed? Are certain ideas missing, repeated, or unresolved?

  • Line editing moves to the sentence-level, and targets flow, tone of voice, and rhythm.

  • Copy editing focuses on the technical aspects of the writing: punctuation, grammar, consistency.

3. Formatting the Manuscript

I professionally format the manuscript before it’s sent off to your publishing platform of choice.

  • E-book: If you’re publishing digitally, I’ll convert your manuscript into an EPUB file (the industry standard format for e-books). Additionally, I can provide a mobile-optimised version to ensure a smooth reading experience on smartphones.

  • Print: If you’re publishing a paperback or hardcover, I’ll typeset and format your manuscript to meet the specific requirements of each platform, such as trim sizes, margins, fonts, and accepted file formats.

4. Setting Up Your Author Account And Uploading Your Book

I set up your author accounts, where you’ll manage your book, set pricing, and track sales after publication. Once everything is ready, I upload your manuscript for both digital and print versions. After your final approval, you’ll simply click publish, and your book will go live within 24 to 72 hours.

I can guide you through the entire publishing process, or you can choose to work with me on specific parts.
