wordforword is an inclusive, independent publisher for people who’ve got a story to tell—

Founded and directed by me, Julia.

Six years ago, I stepped away from the field I had studied, unsure of exactly where I was heading—only that I wanted to write. I started in corporate, writing German copy for a multinational. It didn’t feel like mine. So, I went freelance, working with businesses and agencies across the UK and DACH region—writing, editing, and translating.

Then, the first book project landed on my desk unexpectedly. The second came through a long-term client, for whom I started editing and publishing a series of books on entrepreneurship. I loved working with thought-leaders, I loved the book process, —but what I loved even more were the authors’ stories.

What led them to do what they do today? Which struggles did they overcome? What are their greatest learnings? What wisdom would they share with others?

Nothing sparks my curiosity more than someone else’s story. I love that vulnerable space where a person openly shares their challenges and growth, saying to the world: I’m not perfect. I’m human—just like you.

And in that honesty, something shifts. It gives the reader permission to embrace their own humanity too.

No matter how different we seem, we recognise ourselves in each other.

And we all have a story to tell.

And yet, so many hold back—doubting whether their story is worth telling, whether they have the «right» to call themselves a writer, or whether traditional publishing would ever take them seriously. But the truth is, you don’t need anyone’s permission to share your story.

Independent publishing lets you share your story on your terms—no excesssive editing, no gatekeepers, and no watering down of your message. That’s why I love supporting aspiring authors in shaping their story into a finished book and publishing it independently.
